She is not only an epidemiologist and resiliency researcher, but a community member herself in one of the world's longevity hotspots; she has an insider perspective and is able to bring extraordinary insight to light.
Dr. Spencer-Hwang also works as an infectious disease epidemiologist with local county health departments.

Dr. Rhonda Spencer-Hwang is an epidemiologist and resiliency researcher, with a keen interest in health promotion, fighting stress, and slowing the aging process. She has numerous peer reviewed publications, given presentations around the world and the recipient of funding from various government agencies.
Over the past eight years she has been conducting groundbreaking research studying the experiences of centenarians (persons 100+ years or older) in the only US resiliency region. The US Resiliency Capital is a Christian community of Seventh-day Adventists known for their healthy lifestyles. Discover how they overcame trauma and hardships and were better prepared for the unexpected. They are the first community to show signs of overcoming Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
She has a debut book to help connect parents today with the wisdom of the Resiliency Capital region centenarians for raising resilient children.

When not conducting research or providing workshops she puts her centenarian research into practice with her own family by hiking, mountain biking, spending time in nature along with implementing the other resiliency principles here in the Loma Linda Resiliency Capital Region where they live. Dr. Spencer-Hwang and her family are members of the Mission Road Seventh-day Adventist Church.
